The Bolivar County Election Commissioners have started to prepare for the 2010 General Election on November 2nd.  All Bolivar Countians will take to the polls to vote in several races that will be included on this year’s ballot. 
The November 2nd General Election will include the Congressional races; nonpartisan judicial races (i.e. Circuit, Chancery and County Judges); as well as the County School Board races. Also, this year there will be a Special Election race that will be included on the ballot which will be the race for District Attorney.
The qualifying date has ended for the County Judge race; however, all other positions are either still open for qualifying or qualifying has not begun. For instance, qualifying for County School Board Candidacy opens August 4th and ends September 3rd. Candidates may now obtain qualifying applications through the Circuit Clerk's Office or online with our Elections Portal(http://bolivarms.myecounty.com/reference/candidates/candidates.html)
Electors may also register to vote online by going to our Elections Portal and downloading the Voter Registration form. Once complete, this form must be submitted to the Circuit Clerk's Office at least 30 days prior to any given election. We encourage electors to visit our Elections Portal and navigate through the many benefits of the site.

As always, it's extremely important that electors act early when it comes to registering or updating their voter record. This will be a statewide election and it takes time for information to filter through the many counties of Mississippi if individuals have moved. The Statewide Election Management System (SEMS) is a good system, but it's not perfect. It is only as good and quick as the information we have obtained to put into it.
